Our Thermodynamics

Life is an Enthalpy of interactions.

Positive thoughts gain enthalpy,

Ionisation of anxiety and fear.

Dilution of bias and ego.

Sublimation of hard feelings.

Gradually binds us to a peaceful power,

I am blissful in getting accreditation from CENTA in my very first year of the teaching profession. After many diversions in my career, I chose to follow my passion which is teaching Mathematics. In search of which I, fortunately, found the right school (Prasan Vidya Mandir) to start up (or vice-versa). I got this opportunity via my principal Mrs. Lakshmi Prabha who believed in me. What more do you want when you get a National level Teachers Accreditation from CENTA along with the Reliance Foundation Teacher Award in the very first year of your passionate career proving that your decision is right, fulfilling the trust that people kept on you?
It’s my pleasure to thank the CENTA team for creating such a great platform for teachers to get recognized.
Thank You.
Shilpa Sharma

TPO 2019 (Senior Secondary School Maths): Subject Rank 29

I am Shilpa Sharma , math faculty by profession but a lifelong learner who enjoys teaching mathematics to children. I believe that learning is a two way process. Not only the students learn from a teacher but a teacher learns a lot from her students as well. My motto behind becoming a teacher is to remove the fear that students have for Mathematics. I do work in an institution named “Amrit Vidyalaya” who stands for a Child Centric education. I am fortunate enough to work with such an institution who always has provided me with lots of opportunities to grow professionally as well as personally. TPO 2019 was also one such opportunity that Amrit has provided me for my growth and development. Play way method, experiential learning, freedom of expression are some key features which help our students to excel in walks of life. Being in a TPO 2019 subject topper list was a confidence booster for me. Looking forward to achieving mine as well as my institution goals

TPO 2019 (Senior Secondary School Biology): National Rank 262, Subject Rank 24, Regional Rank 24 (Uttar Pradesh), City Rank 6 (Ghaziabad)

I have been teaching since 2000. The journey of facilitating students of various grades including B.Sc, M.Sc,9th to 12th has been a very enriching journey. I was amazed to observe how the students suddenly grew up the moment the passed school and reached college. Interacting with students daily helped me understand them as a person and it was interesting to know that even students are very much concerned for the teachers they love and respect.

I have been lucky to get the love of my students and realized this when parents approached me asking for a favour where they said “ Ma’am she will agree if you ask her to because she will not listen to us.”

Thank you CENTA for enriching the lives of teachers and acknowledging the efforts of the teachers.

Vertika Rastogi

TPO 2019 (Middle School Maths): National Rank 247, Subject Rank 50, Regional Rank 20 (Uttar Pradesh), City Rank 6 (Lucknow)

Thank you for acknowledging my achievement in CENTA 2019. I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.
My name is Vertika Rastogi. I am an educator from Lucknow. I have a post graduate degree in Mathematics along with a B.Ed.
For as long as I can remember I always knew that at some point in my life I wanted to be a teacher. Mathematics was one subject I always knew well and was always good at. But once I became an educator I realised that being one was so much more than just being good at a particular subject or two. It requires us to develop a healthy and trustworthy relationship with our students in order to create a safe, positive and productive learning environment. We have to be patient with the young learners, we have to genuinely care about them and their progress. We have to be dedicated to our work and be passionate about it. We also have to act as motivators and cheerleaders for our students to help them succeed and become better versions of themselves. I take my responsibility as being an educator seriously as I know how important of a role it is and how impactful we can be. I believe that a good teacher has to be a good and eager learner as well and so I’m always trying to improve, grow and learn to be a better teacher everyday.
I became a part of the CENTA community last year in 2019. I had appeared under the category Middle School Mathematics and surprisingly I was able to secure 6th rank at the City level, 20th rank Region wise from Uttar Pradesh, 50th rank as a subject topper  and 247th rank at the National level.
Getting accredited through such a prestigious and acclaimed organization made me feel incredible. I received a lot of appreciation professionally because of this achievement of mine. A big thank you for providing teachers like me and more all across India and other countries with this amazing opportunity. I got to learn a lot through this experience and I look forward to being  a part of this community every year.

Thank you for  not only building up new ideas but also shaping the former ones. In my opinion, teaching is something where you are not just making someone know about things or giving knowledge , but it is 70-80% all about inspiring oneself.
So yes thank you all.

“A rough-coated, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed.”

I hope you read that, thank your English teacher if you got the pronunciation of all those ‘ough’ in the above sentence right. Yes, that’s the fun of learning this fascinating language and then teaching it too.

Hello everyone,

I am an English teacher for Primary classes. I am completely in my element when I am reading out enthralling poetry to my kids but if not teaching the amazing tiny humans, you can find me huddled in a corner with a captivating book in my hand or these days trying to figure out how to enjoy literature through Zoom classes with the lovely little ones.

Happy Learning to all!

Hello everyone! I am a Chemistry educator, an avid reader and an amateur writer. I think teaching and writing both are the best ways to connect and interact with young minds as well as the eminent personalities in the field of your interest.
I believe that learning should never stop in our life, so I always try to learn and explore new things. Setu Srivastava is TGT science teacher in Amity School , sec-1, Vasundhara. She has over 7 years of experience spread over  two decades. What is truly amazing is that she took up teaching again after twelve years of break in between. She met her past student from year 2000 in 2016 who had done MBBS  and then joined Civil Service (IAS). The student was very much thankful for her teaching and guidance. She hoped that Setu will continue inspiring many other students. Setu rejoined teaching profession after that meeting. It was not easy to rejoin after a break of 12 years, however by perseverance she has overcome all odds. She is widely respected by her students due to her knowledge and teaching skills. She employs the available technological tools to teach without loosing on primary objective of imparting knowledge to students. Her focus is always on getting the concepts right of students.

Rekha Viswanathan

TPO 2019 (Secondary School Biology): National Rank 259 ,Subject Rank 15 , Regional Rank 34 (Karnataka),

TPO 2019 (Senior Secondary School Biology): Subject Rank 50

My first stint as a teacher was during my college days. The last minute revisions with fellow companions helped me lay my  foundation stone of teaching.
Being an ‘in house’ tutor to my niece and her subsequent good performance at school made me take up teaching, more seriously. Starting out as an Online Tutor for some of the most established Edtech platforms, way back in 2013, the journey has been a learning experience all the way. I firmly believe that teaching is a two way process; a discussion where ideas are exchanged and understanding a concept is a collective effort. When we ignite the spark of curiosity in the students’ mind, we learn much more from them. To quote Benjamin Franklin, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”

TPO 2019 (Middle School Maths): National Rank 201, Subject Rank 44, Regional Rank 28 (Karnataka)

I am Sayeesubbulakshmi , Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence facilitator at Delhi  Public School, Bangalore South.

Though I have a Masters in Computer science and Yoga for Human excellence, I love to teach Math and has been doing so for nearly 20 years. The challenges I face in this  make me explore more in this field be it the methodology or classroom management. The inspiration to teach is from my Grandfather who used to teach Math to all the kids in the family though he was a veterinary doctor by profession. Each time I teach Introduction to Trigonometry I feel my grandfather’s blessings upon me. I choose Math teaching as my choice of profession as I feel happy to make students get rid of Math phobia  ,also develop critical thinking and Life skills too .I teach AI and am interested in the integration with other subjects.
CENTA has helped me to understand where I stand in this task, the areas I excel and the areas I need to acquire more expertise. I am interested in being in touch with CENTA. I am also open to new opportunities in  conducting sessions for other teachers and co workers as I strongly believe in sharing my knowledge and expertise with others to empower them too in our journey as facilitators during vacations.

Teaching is a noble profession. I pursued my masters in an industry oriented interdisciplinary course “Bioanalytical Sciences”, after which I could have opted for a corporate job. However my dream was to enlighten young minds which would not have been possible in an industry. I firmly believe that experience and constant learning is helping me to give my best in the education field.

Preeti Kumari

TPO 2019 (Primary – English medium): National Rank 334, Subject Rank 35, Regional Rank 38 (Delhi)

I am Preeti Kumari, working as primary teacher in MCD School. I am also doing my Ph. D. in Education from Department of Education, University of Delhi and my interest area includes EVS Education at primary levels, Higher Education and Gender perspective in Higher Education.

Teaching is more than just a profession for me. The interaction with kids at the school makes me forget about the world out there. Singing and dancing over poems, playing with clays and colors, reading out loudly; all the Primary school activities, I think, make me happier than my students. My students say, I am the best at narrating stories to them. I believe this is the only profession where you get appreciation even for your smallest of the effort (something like just changing the color of chalk) and that too directly from your target audience (students). Isn’t this great!!!

I am thankful to CENTA-TPO for providing teachers with an opportunity to get appreciated on other platforms also.

Being a girl I realised how important it is for me to actually prove my skills and knowledge to this world because girls/woman are always considered as backward. It was high time for me to search for a platform with the help of which I’m able to prove myself. I got the platform here at CENTA. I took the risk and accepted the challenge of competing with thousands of skilled and knowledgeable teachers across the country and I proved myself and secured a national rank. I believe that education is a lifelong process. We learn at each and every step of our life and I want to inculcate this thing in my students as well. As teachers we are learners as well, we learn each and every day sometimes for our students and sometimes from our students. And I think that’s the beauty of this profession.

TPO 2017 (High School English): Subject Rank 37

I was introduced to CENTA TPO in 2017 by my former Principal and Mentor, Mrs Anjali Razdan. As a young girl in school, I had always imagined myself in the shoes of my teachers. I went on to  teach English  in Junior college for some time. Marriage and a move to USA, put a halt to my career . When we returned ,  I decided to go ahead with B.Ed.  CENTA TPO helped me challenge myself. It has made me all the more , a constant learner.  People spoke about the summer holidays teachers get to enjoy , but no one ever spoke of the moments of happiness and pride for a teacher. I am so glad I took the decision to experience them myself.
I have secured ranks in High School English (2017) and Senior Secondary School English(2018). I also achieved a TQ rank in English August 2020. Currently, I am working as PGT, English , DDMS P Obul Reddy Public School, Hyderabad.

First of all, I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to CENTA and Team for giving me this opportunity.
Before I should give a brief summary about me, let me write my experiences about CENTA:
I have a lot of respect for CENTA and I am a great fan of CENTA. Because it gave me a opportunity since last 3 years not only to test my knowledge where I stand but also to learn more w.r.t. to teaching field every year.
Learning starts from birth, ends with death. Learning is a continuous process. Only CENTA provides the only platform to teaching community. In this process we achieve our goals and reach more heights step by step. It is not only about knowledge, but it will reflect later on in the career also. CENTA provides a lot of career opportunity in the teaching field.
About Me:
My Qualifications: M. Sc., M. Phil. B. Ed., Ph. D.
I worked initially (1999-2010) in a reputed J. K. Paper Mills Ltd. company’s school: Lakshmipat Singhania Public School, Jaykaypur, Dist:-Rayagada (Odisha) – 765017 (A remote place). The School gave me a opportunity to work
as a PGT, Biology and laid Foundation in my career.
But In 2006 I underwent of Radiotherapy followed by a Major surgery for Left Parotid Salivary gland at Cancer Institute, W.I.A. (Chennai). The treatment was given for a long duration. I had to take long leave for around 1 year and 2 months. I had to face some post treatment/surgery problems: like change in my shape of my face, I lost my left ear, Left shoulder movement, left eyelid movement and others.
In 2007 I resumed my duties on a trial basis for 2 months as the issue was very sensitive that is to deal with the students. After 2 months of trial basis, it was conformed and I continued till January 2010.
I got an golden opportunity to work in FIITJEE Ltd., at New Delhi. I worked from January 2010 to October 2010. FIITJEE trained and increased my knowledge which led me go one step forward.
Due to my health and food problems, I resigned and joined back to my previous school i.e. LSP School, J. K. Paper Mills, again and continued till 2014.
In 2014, I got the job in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and also in Jawohar Navodaya Vidyalaya. But I joined in KVS in 2014 and continuing till today. I moved one more step forward.
Thanks a lot to God, Cancer Institute (W. I. A., Chennai), Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (Visakhapatnam), my relatives, friends, colleagues and staff who always not only helped me in my critical situations, but also guided me.
At last I want to thank LPS Public School (Provided Foundation for my career), FIITJEE Ltd. (Training increased my knowledge and recognition), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (India level recognition), at last but not least to CENTA (Which provided opportunity and gave me recognition Globally).

I was also inspired by my elder brother Mr. Syed Mustafa Hussaini, VP curriculum development Focus High School and National 1st rank holder in secondary english in Centa TPO 2016, to work in a school setting.
By the time I joined the school as a special educator and counsellor, I was already neck deep into Psychology and Special education. I completed many certificate courses from reputed institutions, like ‘Helping Children to Read” from University of London (through Coursera).
However, securing national 11th rank in CENTA TPO in 2017 really bolstered my reputation. I topped it off with CENTA Micro Credential Certification (Primary English, Assessment and Remediation) and that really helped in getting recognition. It proved that I had the stuff in me to make it this far. I believe in life long learning and I continue to add further PDs to my portfolio and another CENTA MC is in my wishlist.
I love teaching children and I specialise in teaching children to read. Currently, I am working on mass remediation in math for C6, C7 and C8 students.

I have been teaching since 1996 in schools in following the CBSE and the state board curricula and also taught students of NIOS for 12 years. In 2016 I joined my present school as the Headmistress and the same year came across the phenomenon called CENTA. I took the TPO and realized that this kind of platform was long overdue in our education system to bring about the paradigm shift from the 20th to 21st century education norms, from teacher centric to student centric classrooms, or to sum it up, to shift the focus from teaching to learning. I motivated the teachers of my school and my other colleagues to experience the TPO . This year, all the teachers of my school have taken the TQ and the youngest one commented, “Ma’am, I would take it once more asap, it is kind of addictive.”  When we stay with the humility of studentship, then we teach from our highest.

Revati Negi

TPO 2016 (Middle School Maths): National Rank 467

My journey of teaching Mathematics for past 17 years in various schools have been fruitful and it shaped me into a better version of myself. In these 17years , I could notice so many changes happening in the way students learn which consequently brought changes in my way of conducting classes as well. The earlier approach of ‘learn the way they teach’ which was Teacher Centered has now changed to ‘teach the way they learn’ i.e. Student Centered. Participating in competition s like TPO and TQO has helped me to analyse my strengths and weakness so that I can work upon them. Being a life long learner , I enjoy learning from numerous online resources available today to keep improving. And there’s no end to this journey….

My ambition is to gather the diverse knowledge of science and technology from all over the world. The various enigmas, mysteries, QUESTIONS raised every day in this field amaze me. For me, Science is one of the ways that humans try to understand the world and make sense of it. I have trust in this generation to take our work forward. Knowledge doesn’t always turn into action. All the credit goes to my School and my Maths Teachers who have taught me in such an amazing way that Maths has never been a tough subject. I would also like to congratulate CENTA for coming up with such a unique concept of recognizing Teachers – one of the most noble professions in the world.

My appearance in the CENTA- TPO is only love towards the idea of conducting an assessment among teachers at the international level. Being a teacher of Commerce I had no subject track to select for the Test. However, with the experience that I gathered while serving as the Head of Department of Humanity and Commerce I decided to appear it in middle school social science and could manage to get national position in two consecutive years I have appeared. I salute CENTA- it is not only developing a competitive attitude but also providing a much needed learning platform.

From the corporate world to teaching, my journey has been nothing less than a fairy tale. I started teaching quite late only to realize that I was meant for it. I teach English and Economics.  I am also the Confero Club head at my school. Even during this lockdown, my students look forward to the club meetings.

My passion to teach inspired me to take up the CENTA TPO when it was first launched. This recognition helped me believe in my capabilities and inspired me to achieve more. I have one published article and a blog to my credit. I spend all my energy upskilling myself so that each day I can better my very own version.

I was born in Kerala and had my schooling in Malayalam medium. I passed Grade X with 38.5 percent marks. In 1978, I moved to Shillong, bidding adieu to acute poverty and hard domestic labour. I was fortunate enough to have had my collegiate education in Shillong, Meghalaya.  I graduated with Honours in History and obtained a Master’s degree in the same subject from the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, securing a gold medal in both. From the final of year of graduation, I was working as part-time teacher in a private school teaching five periods a day, thus self-financing my education up to the B.Ed. degree.  Those were days of immense struggle. I qualified the National Eligibility Test for lectureship while in the fourth semester of M.A. course. However, I was not able to secure a job in a college. This prompted me to join the B.Ed. course. Thereafter I served in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti as Post Graduate Teacher of History for nearly a decade. I was fortunate to have taught in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. I resigned from the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti in 2005 and  became the Principal of St.Peter’s Senior  Secondary School, Kadayiruppu, Ernakulam District, Kerala, which post I held for  nine years. I also had a short stint as Principal of an international school in Saudi Arabia. Currently, I am the Director of the Christava Mahilalayam Schools in Ernakulam District, Kerala. Teaching is my passion and wherever I taught students loved my classes. I was always a student-friendly teacher and that’s why I am still remembered by thousands of students. Nearly a quarter of century of sojourn in the North East taught me to respect all cultures, languages and religions. Having experienced poverty and hunger, I have learned to live a simple life, while at the same time helping those in need. I still keep updating myself and one way of doing it was taking the TPO ogranised by Centa. Last year I challenged my teachers to write the CTET saying that I would also write the same. I scored 83% marks in the CTET! Just two of my teachers cleared the test. My outlook on teaching is summarized in my Facebook post on teachers’ day this year: “The teacher who wants a place in the hearts of students must be learned, friendly, considerate and easily approachable. Teaching is not merely imparting knowledge but also being there for the students at all times: being a pillar of strength when in the midst of problems, being a light and a guide in their moments of doubt, being a source of comfort in their anxiety, and being a model for them to look up to for inspiration. To the teachers who are much more than all these, have a wonderful teachers’ day.”

SEC.SCHOOL, Rajasthan for the last fifteen years. I always remain eager to learn new ways to present my subject matter in an effective and engaging way as  I believe that  we can  learn alot  from  students  if we are willing to listen and respect their perspective .Fortunately i received boundless love from my students because my teaching strategy is very simple ,if my students are happy in my period so am i, if they are not , i need to work harder on me.

The biggest satisfaction in this noble profession is the moment when a student (whom you have taught long ago) approaches you casually during the journey and tells how significant role you have played in his/her life…This small moment is sufficient to make me more motivated to keep working on my skills , so that one day when i will  be wrapping up my duties as a teacher, I will be a better and satisfied person

First of all, I would like to thank CENTA for this wonderful initiative of providing a platform for teachers to know where we stand, our strengths, and our areas of improvement.
When I started my career as an English teacher, I wasn’t very confident. I’m an engineer by profession and I’d had nothing to do with English until then. But I’m lucky to have received an enormous amount of guidance and support from the Principal and Head of Department, for which I am deeply grateful. When I received my CENTA results in 2018, I was extremely happy. I had secured the 43rd rank in the subject wise category under Middle School English. My family encouraged me to achieve a higher score in the next exam. I resolved to do so, and while I worked towards that goal, I could even see improvement in my students’ performance.
I appeared for my second CENTA exam in 2019. During both the exams, the questions were challenging and very interesting too. It tested every aspect of what it means to be a teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When I saw the 2019 results, I had secured the 3rd rank in the subject wise category under Middle School English! It was a wonderful feeling to be recognised for my efforts. As teachers, it’s very rare that we get an opportunity like the TPO that helps us gauge our performance, tells us how effective we are in the classroom, and helps us understand what to work on, which is a true privilege.
Thank you, CENTA, for giving teachers this opportunity, and for bringing out the best teacher in me.

I am a teacher-educator, in Senior School for the Cambridge International curriculum at Gems Akademia International School. Also trained in the Indian classical dance form of Odissi, I take a keen interest in the arts and the human condition. Words, people and human stories fascinate me. I enjoy reading widely, travelling, conversing and having a feast with my friends!

The story behind making it to the Test Centre!

CENTA TPO 2019 was conducted on December 14th across India, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. South zone being my preferred location in Test City, Kolkata, I had been allotted Future Institute of Engineering and Management as the Test Centre. Confident of it being accessible via a break journey on the Metro route towards the last station, I did not spend much time on researching the location. Instead, I asked for guidance on the specific stop from a friend, then in USA on-site because he had graduated from FIEM.

The directions were simple- I had to board an auto after getting down at the specific Metro station.

On the D-day, I disembarked 1 hour prior to the starting time of the test, took a rickshaw which confidently took me to another engineering college after a 15 minutes ride. When the name did not match, I panicked. The students informed that I was looking for a different college which was in another direction. A passer-by helped saying the only way was to reach the station of the local train line and travel back to Sonarpur station road.

I had no idea of the local train routes, the directions to be followed or which train to board. Locals helped me purchase a ticket and guided me. The waiting time for the particular train had seemed like an eternity. It was past 8.30 am. When it did arrive, I somehow managed to board. That, I could get down from that crowded compartment filled with vegetable vendors blocking the doorway and negligible stopping time, still amazes me. Another student helped me cross the tracks and board an auto. The next 15 minutes were among the most terrifying I have faced till date before appearing for a competitive examination.

I remember barging through the gates, hunting my roll number on the boards displayed outside and running towards the designated building shown by the security personnel.

A very kind CENTA staff approached me while I searched for my breath. It was 4 minutes to 9 am, other candidates were glued to their screens having already logged in. In a daze, I completed security procedures and entered a different room than originally assigned to my roll number and logged in. Sharp at 9 am.

On 29th January 2020, I was in a taxi returning from a batchmate’s wedding when a very senior educator, a fellow winner’s WhatsApp message congratulated me on my TPO results.

I had achieved the Subject Rank of 15 in Secondary School English, placed 6th in the Eastern Region [West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha], 4th in Test City, Kolkata and ranked 157th among the Top 552 Winners’ List across 47 cities of India and 2 international centres in UAE [Dubai, Abu Dhabi] and all 21 Subject Tracks.

That night my joy knew no bounds. But, looking back, I wonder what if I had given up at 8.30am?

Getting down at ‘Kavi Subhash’ [New Garia] instead of ‘Kavi Nazrul’ [Garia] Metro Station would have made all the difference.

TPO 2017 (High School English): National Rank 317, Subject Rank 8, Regional Rank 5 (West Bengal Region), Test City Rank 4 (Kolkata)

I have been in the profession of teaching since the last 19 years. I teach in Shri Shikshayatan School, Kolkata and am an English Facilitator with Netaji  Subhas Open University, Maharaja Manindra Chandra College Study Centre , since 2013, where I give classes to undergraduate students.
I appeared for CENTA TPO Teachers Olympiad in Dec 2017 and ranked 8th in High School English. CENTA is doing a great service to teachers and I thank CENNTA and hope to be associated with CENTA for a life time.
I aspired to be a film maker, instead became a teacher. Today,  teaching is the breath of life and my greatest certificates are my students. I feel, no teacher can ever be depressed amongst children, they give you such a positive energy to be happy.Teaching is a wonderful profession and teachers are warriors, the current pandemic has proven it.It is not the knowledge or information we impart in our lessons, but the affection and positive learning environment we create that makes learning a joy.
Debojyoti Bhattacharjee

TPO 2018 (Senior Secondary School Biology): Regional Rank 32 (Gujarat Region)

My passion towards teaching started around when I was in Grade 11. There were topics which were very difficult for me to assimilate and I used to feel that it is me who is at fault. I tried hard for a few months and then I sort of wanted to give up on that subject. As a last resort, I approached one of my teachers to help me out although full of pessimism within me. But I was proved wrong very soon and it acted as a watershed moment for me where that very subject became my favourite one by the time I passed out of my school. The subject which I used to dread so much turned out to be something which I could relate to in day to day life.
I realized the role of a teacher in shaping a learner!! I never planned for anything like that nor it was my intention. Years later, when it came to choosing a career, I was very clear and I have been greatly inspired by the teachings and writings of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who was popularly known as the people’s President.
Since then, I have been trying to be that one person who can change one of students’ life all of a sudden. CENTA has provided meaningful and very relevant opportunities in the area of teacher training and development and have been associated with CENTA since the past 4 years.
Recently, I came across a popular Bollywood movie, where the lead actress says ” There are no bad students but only bad teachers”. This line struck me so hard that I soon realized if a teacher stops his/her professional development, then he/she can have the potential to effectively hamper and perhaps destroy the lives of hundreds of learners which otherwise could have been valuable and worthy!!
I promised myself to work in this area and this pandemic has propelled me in this direction at the light of speed.

After completing M.Sc (Homescience), she started her career in the Hospitality industry followed by a stint in HR. But the shift in her career to teaching happened during her husband’s (an army officer) tenure at Ranchi. Her employment as a substitute teacher (leave vacancy) in Army School, Ranchi triggered her passion for teaching and from then on there was no looking back.  This was followed by her employment as Primary Teacher in Army School, Babina Cantt. During this period she completed her B.Ed (Special Education) with flying colours. Teaching is more of a passion than a profession for her.

Students learn better by discovering. Leading them towards their goal and watching them come to conclusions as well as allowing them to make a 100 more observations alongside lets them be in charge of learning. I love to see students learning and the “Aha” moment when they finally get a concept is priceless.

A well-reputed Bangalore based school had two high potential candidates from whom the School management needed to promote one to the role of the Principal. The Management had their views on strengths and development areas of both candidates but wanted to make an objective decision which would be acceptable to the teachers as well and is not perceived to be biased by anyone in the school – this was very important from the school culture perspective. Also, the Management was sure that the candidate who would not be promoted would leave the school and thus they were very keen to use a selection process which is deemed fair and hence does not cause any issues with the candidates who is not promoted.

The Management sponsored both candidates to undertake two relevant CENTA Micro-Credentials- Classroom Communication (Level 3) and Professional Competencies (Level 3), which are relevant for the role these candidates were expected to take up. Candidates were given the freedom to choose their subjects.

Both the candidates cleared both Micro-Credentials. However, as CENTA provides a detailed competency-wise scorecard along with the results, an analysis of which gave very objective assessment to both the candidates on their respective strength and development areas which was incidentally in line with the Management’s own views. It made the discussions related to promotion more constructive for both candidates. The candidate who got promoted also got valuable feedback for areas which she should leverage to do well in the role as well as areas to build upon. The candidate who did not get promoted also valued the experience and objective nature of the process and decided to continue the service, helping the school retain an outstanding teacher.

A large school group with hundreds of schools across the country wanted to leverage an objective and structured input to select candidates for Principal promotion from its pool of Vice-Principal candidates.

The group offered all is Vice Principals who were interested in taking up the promotion, a chance to undertake two relevant CENTA Micro-Credentials- Classroom Communication (Level 3) and Professional Competencies (Level 3), which are relevant for the role these candidates were expected to take up. Candidates were given the freedom to choose their subjects and the school supported these nominations by reimbursing the fees to all the candidates who completed the process. To make this a positive experience for the teachers, the school did not link the reimbursement to the success of the candidate but to the effort undertaken in completing the process seriously. The results of the Micro-Credential along with the personalized scorecard became a well-accepted input in the Promotion process. The School Management was very well aligned with the results of the Micro-Credential in most cases.

More importantly, in the few cases where results were different from their expectations, they deep-dived and observed those teachers carefully for few months and realized that CENTA Micro-Credential results captured the strengths and development areas more concretely than their earlier observations.

Given the positive experience of the candidates and the school management with the first batch of micro-Credentials, the school took the entire exercise again next year with the new cohort of Vice Principal candidates as well as gave another chance to the previous cohort candidates to complete the Micro-Credentials.
