  • CENTA TPO 2017 winners shine at world’s biggest education conference, GESF in Dubai | March 17-18, 2018

    One of the most highly coveted prizes for winners of Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) 2017 was the sponsorship to attend the Global Education & Skills Forum (GESF) in Dubai. An initiative of the Varkey Foundation (CENTA TPO partner and sponsor of the prize), GESF is an annual event which marked its sixth edition this year and witnessed more than 2,000 delegates at share, debate and shape new ways for education to transform our world, over two days. The Forum culminates in the awarding of the Global Teacher Prize.

    On Saturday-Sunday, TPO 2017 Subject Toppers not only got a chance to meet, interact and learn from some of the biggest global changemakers in education, but were also felicitated on their TPO achievement by Professor Oon Seng Tan, Director of National Institute of Education Singapore! Here are some snapshots from their felicitation which was followed by a short session with CENTA CEO, Ramya Venkataraman on the winners’ GESF experience and on winning the TPO.

  • Omidyar Network honours women entrepreneurs changing education (March 15, 2018)

    "Wendy Kopp, founder of Teach for America and Teach For All, Shaheen Mistri, founder of Teach For India, Ramya Venkataraman, founder of CENTA in India and Erica Butow, co-founder of Ensina Brasil, are preparing more educators to lead and teach those most in need globally." Omidyar Network celebrates 'Women's History Month' with 25 women founders and leaders in its Global Education Portfolio. Over 40% of all education organizations it supports are led by women - and CENTA is one of them! Three cheers for 'women pursuing big, bold visions towards positive change for millions of children and families in global education' everywhere. Thank you!

  • First set of CENTA Certified teachers announced!

    We are pleased to announce 14 CENTA Certificates and 15 Micro-Credentials across the three levels of CENTA Certification. Three teachers have been certified in Level One (new teachers) and five teachers in Level Two (experienced teachers). Level Three (senior teachers) saw the maximum number with six teachers certified! We have also awarded 15 CENTA Micro-Credentials in Subject Expertise (9), Content Development (4) and Classroom Communication (2). Based on the rigorous CENTA Standards and evaluated by our panel of Expert Assessors, CENTA Certification is designed to be indicators of teaching competencies in line with well-accepted parameters. CENTA also offers Micro-Credentials, which are credits or badges for specific modules or themes, for teachers showing exceptional competence on those themes.

  • Ramya Venkataraman (Founder and CEO) contributes to a recent global book

    We are proud to share an absolutely incredible achievement of our Founder and CEO, Ramya Venkataraman. Ramya is one of the contributors to the recent global book (and the only contributor from India): 'World Class – Tackling the Ten Biggest Challenges Facing Schools Today', edited by the internationally acclaimed pair of David James and Ian Warwick and published by Routledge Education.

  • Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) featured in the list of the top 60 social enterprises in Asia

    Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) featured in the list of the top 60 social enterprises in Asia, published by Development Bank of Singapore and National University of Singapore – out of 1000+ applicants from 27 countries. The DBS - NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia identifies innovative social ventures that have the potential to generate positive, scalable and sustainable social impact in Asia.

  • CENTA and Central Square Foundation to publish a book on teaching practices

    CENTA and Central Square Foundation to publish a book on teaching practices, with chapters co-authored by winning teachers of the CENTA Teaching Professionals' Olympiad 2015 and 2016.

    One of the very exciting prizes of the CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad TPO 2016 was a book on effective teaching practices, which was co-authored by 31 winning teachers. This book was facilitated by Central Square Foundation and provided the teachers a platform to share their knowledge and experience to a much wider audience. The book is currently under publication and will be launched on 5th September, 2017.
    We hope to continue this tradition of providing the winners this unique opportunity. Even this year, each of the following winners will be invited to contribute to a book on great teaching practices (specific themes to be discussed later), to be curated and published by Central Square Foundation.

    • Overall Top 10 national rank-holders.
    • Subject Topper for each of the 17 subject tracks.
    • 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank holders of each of the three Challenger tracks.
    • Five additional winners serving in tough socio-economic settings, as decided by a panel.

    A few winners from TPO 2018 will also be contributing to the book, providing a unique opportunity for winners from the two years to interact.
